We make pizza at our house all the time. Whether we make the dough from scratch, use naan bread (our favourite go-to) or make pizza buns we always like to use our own pizza sauce. There are a couple of variations that we use but the one below is definitely a family favourite.
The flavours of all the herbs make a pizza pop especially when all the toddlers want on a pizza is cheese. The best part is that I always have all of the ingredients in my pantry so it’s always ready in 5 minutes.
Preparation
Combine all ingredients in a medium saucepan or bowl. To turn this sauce into a marinara sauce, simmer for 10-15 minutes to infuse all the flavours into the tomatoes.
Substitutions
You can use diced or whole canned tomatoes, drained. Put in a blender, add all ingredients, and blend until smooth. If you use diced or whole tomatoes you will get a more liquid consistency, so try to drain as much of the excess liquid as you can.
Serving
Use immediately on homemade pizza, our delicious naan pizzas, or on homemade pizza buns.
TIP
You can also freeze it for future use. Freeze the pizza sauce in silicone cups or ice cube trays so you have access to exactly how much you need when defrosting.
Freeze in the container of your choice and transfer out of the container into a silicone resealable bag for easy access.
