Ground Pork Lettuce Wraps Recipe

Fresh, light and summery, these lettuce wraps are the perfect lunch or party appetizer. They are slightly salty and a little bit sweet and are sure to please all tastes.

  • 1 lb ground pork see substitutions for more options
  • 1 green onions greens and whites
  • 1 head of iceberg lettuce
  • ½ of a medium carrot
  • ½ cup crispy wonton strips
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds

  • Prepare the lettuce by removing the core (see tips above), and separating the leaves. To do so, run cold water into the hole left by the core and gently pull the leaves apart.

  • Next, wash and chop the green onions and julienne the carrot. Set these ingredients aside.

  • To make the main stuffing, add the ground pork to a hot pan and sauté until fully cooked.

  • While the meat is cooking, make the sauce. Combine all of the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Whisk or stir well until fully mixed.
    3 tbsp hoisin sauce, 1 tbsp soy sauce, ½ tsp sesame oil, ½ tsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp corn starch
  • Once the pork is cooked, add the sauce to the pan and stir. Finally, add the whites of the green onions and cook for another minute or two.

  • Serve the ingredients buffet style with sesame seeds, crispy wonton strips and sweet chili sauce.
