Greek-Style Chicken Burger Recipe

These juicy chicken burgers explode with flavour in every bite. With a few simple ingredients and quick cooking time you can have homemade burgers every night of the week.

Ingredients
 
 

  • 450 g ground chicken
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp salt less if your feta is very salty
  • ¼ cup feta cheese
  • 1 tbsp kalamata olives
  • ½ small onion
  • ½ tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 Hamburger buns or lettuce leaves

Optional Toppings:

  • Spinach
  • Tzatziki
  • tomato
  • Avocado

Instructions
 

  • Chop the parsley, kalamata olives and onion. Crumble feta cheese and juice lemon.

  • In a medium bowl, or the bowl of a stand mixer, add all ingredients up to, and including, lemon juice.

  • Mix ingredients just until combined. You don’t want to overmix; it will make your burgers dense. The mixture should be a bit sticky.
  • Divide your meat mixture into 4 equal parts. Form each part into a patty. I make mine about ½ inch thick, they will shrink a little in diameter.
  • Heat a tablespoon of oil in a large pan on high heat. Once the oil is hot, place each patty in the pan. Do not overcrowd the pan. Let them cook for about a minute to brown then turn the heat down to medium. Cook for 8 minutes then flip and cook on the other side for 8-10 minutes. It may take longer depending on the thickness of your patties. The temperature in the center should reach 165ºF.
    1 tbsp olive oil
  • Serve on hamburger buns or lettuce with your favourite toppings.
