Peanut Butter yogurt dip is the perfect addition to a healthy fruit snack. Adding protein, calcium and delicious flavour, this dip will appeal to the pickiest eater, and their parents.
If you’re in need of a quick and healthy snack this peanut butter yogurt dip with apples is the perfect solution.
We all strive to give our kids nutritious snacks that keep them full until the next meal. But that’s not always easy. Fruit alone doesn’t cut it so a dip rich in calcium and protein is the perfect pairing.
Maybe your toddler doesn’t actually like fruit. If that’s the case perhaps a peanut butter and yogurt dip is just the thing to win them over.
And frankly, if all they eat is the dip at first, that’s not the worst thing in the world either.
Preparing the Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip with Apples
Ingredients
Peanut Butter: Peanut butter is a spread that is made from ground dry-roasted peanuts. It’s available in smooth or crunchy consistencies. We recommend using smooth peanut butter for this recipe to get a really creamy and fluffy dip. If you like a little crunch in your dip, however, there is no reason why crunchy peanut butter wouldn’t work.
Vanilla Greek Yogurt: Greek yogurt is yogurt that has had the whey and other liquids strained from it. It’s thicker and creamier than other types of yogurt. Vanilla yogurt is just flavouring that is added to plain Greek yogurt making it sweet.
Honey: We can thank bees for this luxurious sweet ingredient. Bees make honey from the nectar of flowers of which the excess is collected by beekeepers, bottled and sold. There are many different types of honey varying in taste and consistency. You want to make sure to use a honey that you like and one that is runny.
Apples: Sweet, sometimes tart fruit that grows on apple trees. There are over 7,500 varieties of apples grown around the world so I cannot tell you that this dip will work with all of them. But, I have a hunch it will work with most that are available in your local grocery store.
How to Make Peanut Butter and Yogurt Dip with Apples
This snack whips up in a flash. Wash, core and slice the apples. See our video below (Jump to Video) on the quickest way to do that.
Next, make the dip. Just add the peanut butter, yogurt and honey to a bowl and stir until everything is well combined.
If you are using natural peanut butter, make sure that there are no clumps in your dip. If the peanut butter is too hard warm it in the microwave, just for a few seconds, to soften it a little bit. You don’t want to melt it though.
Substitutions
Peanut Butter: You can use almond butter instead of peanut butter.
Greek Yogurt: if you don’t have vanilla yogurt feel free to use plain Greek yogurt and add ½ tsp vanilla extract or add more honey. If you use other
types of yogurt, other than Greek yogurt, it will make the dip runnier but will not alter the taste as long as you use vanilla-flavoured yogurt.Apples: This dip is not just made for apples. Try it with bananas, melon, cantaloupe, strawberries or blueberries. While you’re at it throw in some animal crackers and pretzels and you have yourselves the perfect party platter.
Serving Peanut Butter Yogurt Dip with Apples
You can serve the dip traditionally in a small bowl or ramekin next to the fruit.
You can also slice the apples horizontally and serve them as apple rings with the dip smeared on top.
Take it to the next level by drizzling some melted chocolate over top.
Or sprinkle cinnamon over the plate.
